A manuscript book is a hand-written, hand-illustrated book, and sewn into a cover by a bookbinder. Stemming from the tradition of creating books before the onset of the printing press, the tradition of handmade books continues to this day.
Nadezhda Lisak specialises in creating manuscript books in traditional and contemporary styles, in a wide range of topics: from books of favourite quotes, to essays and poetry, to prose and a visual expression of musical themes (with lyrics).
Each book has a lettering style created uniquely for it, in response to the subject. The illustrations are styled to compliment the text, giving the complete work an harmonious presentation.
Once the book is complete, a bookbinder is then employed to encase the book in an appropriate cover (hardback, softback, leather or cloth). The bookbinder can either be sourced by Nadezhda or by the client.
